Workplace Issues for Employees at Amazon Regional Warehouse Center in Ruskin or Lakeland

A recent article in the New York Times focused on on Amazon's company-wide working practices, including at the Amazon regional fulfillment centers.

We here in Southwest Florida have two Amazon fulfillment warehouses - one located in Ruskin, Florida and one in Lakeland, Florida.

Some of the workplace conditions the article cites around the country are:

  • "In 2011...workers in [a]...warehouse toiled in more than 100-degree heat with ambulances waiting outside, taking away laborers as they fell";
  • "A 41-year-old parent of three who helped build Amazon's restaurant supply business, said her boss...had told her that raising children would most likely prevent her from success at a higher level because of the long hours required. ...[H]e suggested that she find a less demanding job at Amazon";
  • "A woman who had breast cancer was told that she was put on a 'performance improvement plan' - Amazon code for 'you're in danger of being fired' - because 'difficulties' in her 'personal life' had interfered with fulfilling her work goals."

If these situations or anything like these has happened to you as a result of your working at Amazon or other companies, there may be are legal remedies for you. It's important to give us a call as soon as possible - 941.244.0468.
